Eliminates UNFPA funding for 2003. It
also strips funding for UNFPA in 2002, even though Congress approved
$34 million for the program Dec 2001.
A 33% increase for abstinence-only
education programs for 2003. These education programs are
irresponsible because they do not allow talk about contraception,
except to highlight failure rates. Young people should be given the
information they need to protect themselves from unintended pregnancy
and sexually transmitted diseases.

Fundamentalists and the Vatican in opposing
the Program of Action adopted by the UN's Conference on Population
Development that sought to improve women's
reproductive choices and educational opportunities. |

The US Joined Iran Iraq Sudan Libya Syria and
the Vatican to vote against sex education
to fight teen pregnancy and AIDS because it included the use of
condoms!
